Why do so many well-meaning Christians take one spiritual step forward, then slide back two? Why do we long for more of God in our lives and yet feel further and further away from him? What's holding us back from growing in this relationship that we claim is our main priority? Every day we are surrounded by secondhand spiritual toxins—influences, emotions, and behaviors—that threaten to draw us away from Jesus Christ. But when we recognize the toxins that assault us and discover ways to live in this world without absorbing them into our souls, we can experience genuine spiritual growth.
